Derelict places exude a strange beauty and an irresistible pull on me. One inside, the sights are often overwhelming. The signs of previous activity, the stillness, the smell of wet concrete, the litter, the often huge open spaces, the darkness of the shadows, the sound of the wind passing through, nature creeping back in. I imagine how these places used to be full of people and products and now there is a stillness and a sense of unfulfilled promises.
It was often difficult to get into these buildings and to take photos. And once inside my nerves were challenged in many ways.
It is important for me to mention that no item was added or taken away in reality or in photoshop, everything was as I found it.
